JERSEYVILLE — Work is progressing on Illinois American Water's Jerseyville distribution center.

Utility officials and local representatives celebrated a groundbreaking in February for the $8 million, 16,000-square-foot facility at 501 Mound St.

Steel has now been erected for the facility, and interior construction work has begun.

The facility will include a customer payment window, a maintenance garage with six garage bays, storage areas for tools and equipment, and dedicated operations and maintenance areas.

Illinois American Water expects to complete construction of the facility by the end of the year.

The project includes Helmkamp Construction as general contractor, M+H Architects as architect, Heneghan & Associates as civil engineer, SSC Engineering as structural engineer, and Custom Engineering as mechanical engineer.
